Creating Comfort Year-Round: Pine Belt Insulation’s Commercial Project at Camp Sojourn

At Pinebelt Insulation, we understand that every commercial project comes with unique challenges—and opportunities. One of our most exciting ongoing projects is for Camp Sojourn, located on the historic Circle Bar Ranch in Foxworth, Mississippi. This multi-purpose facility is designed to serve as a vibrant youth activity camp during the summer and a special events venue throughout the rest of the year.

Creating a space that accommodated high-energy summer programs and formal gatherings in cooler months meant our insulation approach had to be strategic, durable, and energy-efficient.

A New Chapter at Circle Bar Ranch

Camp Sojourn is more than just a camp—it’s a destination. Nestled in the heart of Foxworth, the facility is being developed to support a wide range of uses, from rustic youth adventures to elegant weddings and community events.

The first phase of construction includes:

  • 10 duplex cabins
  • 4 bathroom buildings
  • Off-season manager housing
  • Staff housing
  • Office building
  • Health center
  • Multi-purpose building
  • Dining hall
  • Chapel

With so many structures and so much variety in their function and layout, insulation wasn’t a one-size-fits-all job.

The Pinebelt Insulation Approach: A Custom Combination

To ensure year-round comfort and long-term performance, we utilized a hybrid insulation strategy that maximizes both thermal efficiency and moisture protection.

R-19 Fiberglass Batt in Exterior Walls

We installed R-19 fiberglass batts in all the exterior walls of the conditioned buildings. Fiberglass batt insulation is an ideal choice for these areas due to its:

  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Proven thermal performance
  • Easy fit within standard wall cavities

Open-Cell Spray Foam in Roofs and Attic Walls

For the conditioned living areas—such as cabins, housing, and the office—we applied open-cell spray foam in the roofs and attic walls. This product was selected for:

  • Superior air sealing properties
  • Enhanced energy efficiency
  • Noise reduction between indoor areas

Closed-Cell Spray Foam for Porches and Storage

Outdoor and unconditioned areas like porches and storage rooms received closed-cell spray foam insulation. This high-density product offers:

  • Moisture resistance critical for Mississippi’s humid climate
  • Increased structural rigidity
  • Effective thermal insulation even in exposed environments

Why a Mixed Insulation System Works

No single insulation material can meet every need on a project like Camp Sojourn. That’s why Pinebelt customizes each application based on location, use, and environmental exposure. The result is:

  • Maximum comfort for campers, staff, and guests
  • Energy savings throughout every season
  • Protection against moisture and air infiltration in vulnerable areas

Built to Perform—Now and in the Future

As construction continues at Camp Sojourn, Pinebelt remains committed to delivering high-quality insulation that supports the camp’s long-term success. Our work ensures that every building—from cozy cabins to the bustling dining hall—will be comfortable, efficient, and ready to host memories for years to come.
